Focus on Rhetoric: Malala Youzafsai's Nobel Peace Prize Speech

TR5.32 After the Taliban shot Malala Yousafzai (then 15 years old) on her way to school in October 2012, she has become world famous. 

You can read Malala's acceptance speech for the Nobel Peace Prize of 2014 on p. 313. You can also watch the speech here on the website (see below). The recording lasts about half an hour. The text is quicker to read because it has no breaks for applause.

Read the text about rhetoric on page 312 before you read Malala’s speech. Use the information given there as help when you work with the tasks in the margin. These tasks deal with the rhetorical appeal forms and devices used in Malala’s speech.
